How to build a culture of collaboration | Saugat Majumdar

In recent times, collaboration has undeniably become a key factor in a company’s success. However, it is a systematically planned process to achieve a collaborative environment in a team. In my blog, I will share few steps to build a culture of collaboration.

·       Smart Technology - Present-day technology is making it easier for employees to work not only smoother and faster but also in a smart manner. Technology can promote collaboration and boost productivity through various digital tools such as messaging apps, employee experience hubs, survey platforms, and so on. If you look around, you will notice that every industry – from healthcare to food service, digital communication tools, uses technology to create a culture of collaboration at work.

·      Lucid communication - To develop a culture of collaboration, you need to enhance communication in the team. The foremost step towards this is transparent expression. The need to communicate freely with your employees and lend a patient ear to their ideas cannot be undermined, which will in turn lead to a productive and meaningful collaboration in the team. You should lead by example.

·     Team Bonding - Building a culture of collaboration involves creating a work environment that gives its employees liberty to communicate openly and honestly and form meaningful bonds with one another. When there is a deep sense of affiliation within the team, members are driven to take positive actions that benefit the organization.

·    Connecting with remote team members - The pandemic has created a ‘Work from Home’ culture, at times, resulting in a distance between employees, thereby leading to a sense of detachment. However, engaging employees do not always have to happen in person it can even happen virtually. Whether you choose to host weekly check-ins or a monthly virtual brainstorming session, there are various simple ways to connect with everyone. So, ensure a connection with the team daily.

·     Positive and frequent feedback - Remember that to manage a team, it is a must to encourage and motivate them. Feedback helps us to understand the expectations from our team and gives them a sense of belonging when appreciated. It helps an employee to not just meet expectations but also to exceed them. Taking some time out to give feedback is an essential part of the collaboration process.

As change becomes constant, building a culture of collaboration plays a vital role. So, to stay future-ready adopt these steps and stay ahead of the curve.
